What is Wrong With Your Skin Care Routine?

March 10, 2017

Sometimes you ask yourself “What is wrong with my skin?” “Could my skin care routine not be working or it’s not right for me?” lucky you, we got your back on this, and we’re getting rid of everything that’s sabotaging your journey for a beautiful skin!

A lot of our skin care routine mistakes are just lack of information! You see brands selling lotions, moisturizers, cleansers, oils, etc. Promising this amazing things. However, not every skin is the same, and although we recommend to consult a dermatologist to get exactly what you need, in the mean time, we have a few tips that could be the answer to your problems!

WE BELIEVE IN TOUGH LOVE, BUT NOT THAT TOUGH!

We, as Coffee Scrub lovers and experts got to tell you, exfoliating is a must in your skin care routine, since it removes dead cells, bacteria and dry patches. If you let them sit on your face without scrubbing at least once a week, they can cause acne, dry skin or even dark spots (everything but that please!).

Nevertheless, when it comes to your face, you must be aware of how hard and how often you exfoliate. Scrubbing to often can leave your skin super sensitive and more prone to have acne, and scrubbing to hard can cause irritation and unwanted rashes or red spots. Give your skin some tough love, but in a subtle way *Wink, Wink*

BE AWARE OF SILICONES OR DIMETHICONE

Usually primers or long-wear foundations have dimethicone (Silicone) as ingredient. This is supposed to help your makeup last longer, but it actually can be very nasty with sensitive and oily skins! Everything used excessively has its consequences, and dimethicone can do worse than better in the long term… Why? because it can clog your pores and, because of it, you can get bad breakouts or accumulated bacteria waiting to spread acne over your face… That’s a no no for us honey!

SQUEAKY CLEAN ISN’T ALWAYS THAT GOOD

When we cleanse at the end of the day, we want to take every inch of dirt or makeup off, and that’s awesome. However, washing your face to hard is not recommended… Again, Why? Because, just like shampooing your hair, washing too hard can wipe away all the natural oils that your body produce (Some of those oils actually love your skin) and, in the end, they cause even more oil production for the oily skin ones, or excessive dryness for the ones with dry skin.

BE CAREFUL WITH ANTI-ACNE SKIN CARE

Anti-Acne products can be a very useful help, but wait! don’t jump on thousands of acne products at once! It’s really important to check these factors:

  • Is your skin getting worse with acne products? Check with a specialist. Maybe you don’t react well to salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide, which are very common on anti-acne products.
  • Don’t stop moisturizing! Anti-acne products work well, but they tend to over -dry your skin, and if you don’t balance your skin pH with some moisture, you can have even more acne than before.
  • If your skin is very sensitive, use alcohol free, mostly natural and unscented skincare.

THERE’S SOMETHING MISSING

We just want to remind you that water keeps your face and body happy. Your undereye area won’t look dry, your lips will be pink, plump and sassy, and your whole skin area will feel much different!
